Investigation Equipment
Need help finding out what equipment you might need to do your own investigation? You have come to the right place.
Proper equipment is essential when investigating paranormal phenomenon and allows for the accurate collection of necessary data.
Paranormal investigations can be an expensive or inexpensive endeavor. It all depends how much you want to spend.
Investigators have shown significant results with equipment which is very affordable, so don't let pricing discourage you. Truth be told, you can document and detect ghosts and spirits with a variety of items.
Paranormal Equipment
Digital Voice Recorder: Used to record electronic voice phenomena (EVP) which are anomalous voices or voice-like sounds captured on electronic media.
EMF Detector: It is an electromagnetic field meter which measures the amount of electricity in an area. The higher the reading, the more likely it is that paranormal activity is taking place.
Infrared Digital Camcorder: Digital camcorders are great for recording orbs and light anomalies and any other strange events. Ideally your camcorder should have night vision or super night vision, a built in light and a microphone.
Infrared Thermometer: Can measure temperature from a distance without touching the object to be measured. Cold spots have been associated with paranormal activity due to absorption of the heat as an energy source.
Ion Detector: Paranormal phenomena are reported to increase the amount of positive ions in the vicinity. This detector sounds an alarm when the ion count rises or falls between two preset levels.
Two Way Radios: Two Way Radios are recommended if the investigation involves splitting in to teams. This way you can easily communicate with the other team.
Don't forget the small things...
Candles and Matches: Some paranormal investigators believe that ghost energy can drain equipment energy and candles should be taken as a back up.
Extra Batteries: These are essential because ghosts are thought to be electromagnetic and this can cause batteries to run down quite quickly.
Film: Electromagnetic discharges can affect film and it may need to be replaced.
Flash Lights: Always have bright flash lights. (usually 3 or 4)
First Aid Kit: You never know what you will find. It is better to safe than sorry.
Notebook and Pen: Always keep records of times and events, this is very useful for documenting the investigation and especially if the study is to be replicated. Pens and pencils are also essential.
Watch: An essential piece of equipment for recording the time when the events happen.
